Abdali: Amman’s Bustling Centre
Launched in 2004 as a joint public-private venture, the Abdali Urban Regeneration Project is a mixed-use real estate development endeavour designed to establish a vibrant focal point for the modern metropolis of Amman.
His Majesty championed this project even in the face of formidable challenges such as the global economic downturn of 2008.
The project, inaugurated in 2014, attracted approximately $5 billion in investments and successfully realised its objective of creating a vibrant and cohesive community in the heart of the capital. It seamlessly integrates commercial, residential, cultural, recreational and healthcare facilities.
Since its inception, the project has effectively attracted substantial investments totalling over $2.4 billion, sourced from a diverse range of foreign, Arab and local investors. As a result, Abdali has emerged as the primary economic hub of the capital city, Amman.
The first phase of the project covered an expanse of 250,000 square metres, facilitating the development of over one million square metres of infrastructure. This phase laid the foundation for a sophisticated, multi-purpose environment, attracting both local and international enterprises keen to establish their headquarters within its boundaries.
Presently, Abdali hosts nearly 500 companies across over 27 sectors, boasting a diverse mix of major international players, along with prominent local and regional firms. The district is also home to the headquarters of local and regional banks, international hotel chains, a thriving healthcare hub, and the bustling Boulevard, offering a vibrant array of shops and cafes.
Abdali has created over 15,000 employment opportunities and welcomes approximately 20 million visitors each year.
Building on the achievements of its initial phase, the project unveiled plans for its second phase, with a development area exceeding 1.2 million square metres. This phase includes the construction of a state-of-the-art conference centre, hotels, residential complexes, commercial centres, and advanced medical facilities.
