Royal Medals

Royal medals reflect Jordan’s keenness to honour the men, women, civilians and military personnel of the homeland for their achievements and sacrifices during their service or after they conclude their service. They are also bestowed on prominent international figures to honour them.

They are divided into civilian and military medals and are granted by Royal Decree.

Order of Al Hussein bin Ali

The Order of Al Hussein bin Ali is awarded to kings, princes and heads of states. It is the highest civilian honour in the Kingdom.

The Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) and the Order of Al Nahda

The Bejewelled Grand Cordon of Al Nahda (Order of the Renaissance) is granted to kings, princes and heads of state. It may also be awarded to prime ministers.

The Order of Al Nahda is awarded to civilians and servicemen and women, Arabs and foreigners, in appreciation of their distinguished services at the national, regional, or international levels.

Each of these medals has five degrees.

The Order of Al Kawkab Al Urduni is granted to civilians and military personnel, Jordanians, Arabs and foreigners, who have rendered great national, regional, or international services.

This medal includes five degrees.

The Order of Al Istiqlal (Independence)

The Order of Al Istiqlal (Independence)

The Order of Al Istiqlal (Independence) is granted to civilians and military personnel, Jordanians, Arabs and foreigners, who have rendered great national, regional, or international services.

This medal includes five degrees.

The Order of the Hashemite Star

The Order of the Hashemite Star is awarded to civilians and military personnel with long and distinguished service. It is also granted to whomsoever the King chooses.

Al Hussein Decoration for Distinguished Contribution

Al Hussein Decoration for Distinguished Contributions is awarded in appreciation of those who have rendered great services to the homeland. It includes two degrees.

The King Abdullah II ibn Al Hussein Order for Distinction is granted in appreciation of those who have rendered great services to the homeland. It includes five degrees.

The Order of Valour and Salvation

The Order of Valour and Salvation is granted to those who have taken heroic actions outside their line of work that have protected and saved the lives of citizens. It is also awarded to those who have shown courage and valour in defending the homeland and its interests and protecting its property. This order includes three degrees.

Order of Honour (Al Sharaf)

The Order of Honour is awarded to those who have offered noble humanitarian services within their line of duty or outside their line of work.

Order of Dedication and Sacrifice

Order of Dedication and Sacrifice

The Order of Dedication and Sacrifice is awarded to servicemen and women who show courage and valour, especially in battle or in humanitarian and rescue services. It is the highest military honour in the Kingdom. It includes three classes.

A military medal awarded according to military rank. It includes five degrees.

Silver Jubilee Medal

Silver Jubilee Medal

Created to mark the Silver Jubilee of His Majesty King Abdullah II, and it is awarded to civilians and military personnel who have made remarkable contributions to Jordan in various fields. It can also be granted to public and private institutions with major contributions to the homeland.

Order of the State Centennial

This Order was created to mark the first centennial of the State, and it consist of an order and a medal, one of which is granted to civilians or servicemen in appreciation for their distinguished contributions to Jordan’s development. It is also granted to institutions and companies with major services to the homeland.
