Biography
Born in Amman on June 28, 1994, His Royal Highness Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II is the eldest son of Their Majesties King Abdullah II and Queen Rania Al Abdullah and the 42nd direct descendant of Prophet Mohammad. The Crown Prince has one brother, His Royal Highness Prince Hashem, and two sisters, Their Royal Highnesses Princess Iman and Princess Salma.
On June 1, 2023, His Royal Highness married Her Royal Highness Princess Rajwa Al Hussein. On August 3, 2024, Their Royal Highnesses welcomed their firstborn daughter, Her Royal Highness Princess Iman bint Al Hussein bin Abdullah II.
HRH the Crown Prince, who holds the rank of major in the Jordan Armed Forces-Arab Army, graduated in 2017 from the Royal Military Academy Sandhurst in the United Kingdom.
HRH completed his High School education at King’s Academy, Jordan, in 2012 and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in International History from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C, in 2016.
On July 2, 2009, a Royal decree was issued naming His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Jordan. Since then, His Royal Highness has also assumed the role of Regent to His Majesty King Abdullah II on several occasions.
His Royal Highness is a strong advocate for youth and has consistently emphasised the significance of technical education and vocational training in creating economic opportunities. The Crown Prince is working on advancing key sectors, including innovation in the information technology sector and promoting Jordan as a global tourism destination.
Active on the international stage, His Royal Highness has represented Jordan at multiple international forums, including, most prominently, the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Assembly. In April 2015, His Royal Highness chaired a Security Council open debate on the role of youth in countering violent extremism and promoting peace, making him the youngest person ever to chair a meeting at the council.
Stemming from Crown Prince Al Hussein’s commitment to enable and empower Jordan’s youth, the Crown Prince Foundation (CPF) was established in 2015 to provide opportunities and skills for young men and women to contribute to the development of their nation. CPF focuses on three foundational areas – Employability and Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Citizenship.
In his spare time, His Royal Highness regularly enjoys practicing various sports, including football and diving. He also enjoys following competitive sports such as Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) and boxing.
